Our Host
The Chandler Center for the Arts and the Chandler Cultural Foundation are pleased to host the Arizona Watercolor Association National Exhibition 2005. In working with the AWA, we have found their exhibition to represent a wide range of artists working in watercolor media. AWA's dedication to the field of visual arts has helped to bridge the gap between water media and its admirers. We welcome them once again in 2005 and look forward to sponsoring the exhibition.

Juror’s Statement
Originality.....hard to describe and rare to find. We all want to be "ourselves", known for our individuality in our paintings, yet find ourselves drawn to the tried and true, the known, and the expected. I, too, have felt the pull of the controlling public and have to fight it tooth and nail.

My congratulations to those of you who know your craft: strong value relationships, fresh color, skilled drawing, and an understanding of spatial relationships, that is, design. Synthesize these skills with originality and I take notice.

My congratulations to the quality of work I was privileged to juror. It was an inspiration to improve in my personal journey. One of the more heart-wrenching aspects of jurying is the constraint of space limitations upon the show. Unfortunately, some artists do not realize how close they were to acceptance.

My congratulations to those accepted and I want to encourage the others to keep painting and competing.

Thank you for the honor and opportunity.
